Mathematics

Mathematics serves as a bridge between theory and real-world problems. By model construction, numerical computations, and data analysis, it provides essential tools for addressing complex challenges in science and engineering. This program aims to help students build a knowledge framework in applied mathematics and understand its critical role from foundational theory to cutting-edge technologies and financial analysis. The curriculum covers core areas such as mathematical modeling, scientific computing, optimization algorithms, and data science with Python. It also delves into specific applications of statistics, optimization theory, and other methods in quantitative finance, AI, and cryptography. Leveraging the academic resources of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the program includes university workshops and laboratory visits, as well as trips to relevant technology enterprises. By integrating theory with practice, it guides students in exploring the broad prospects and professional pathways in mathematics.

  • 现任香港理工大学应用数学系教授。2006年获得加拿大麦克马斯特大学数学博士学位。先后在北京师范大学(中国)、密歇根大学(美国)和特拉维夫大学(以色列)从事博士后研究工作。其主要研究方向为传染病模型构建与医学数据统计分析
  • 黄教授

  • 2017年在美国北卡罗来纳大学教堂山分校获得生物统计学博士学位。同年加入香港理工大学应用数学系担任助理教授
  • 主要研究兴趣是开发有效且理论严谨的统计方法,用于分析医学和公共卫生研究数据,这些研究可能涉及高维数据和/或删失事件时间
