International Finance & Economics

Economics explores the macro-level principles governing resource allocation and societal functioning, while Finance focuses on the market practices of capital flow and risk management. They form the theoretical foundation and applied framework for understanding the modern global economic system. This course builds upon this disciplinary connection, integrating theory with practice to help students develop a systematic, cross-disciplinary perspective. The course curriculum centers on core modules of International Finance and Economics, covering key topics such as the evolution of the global economic landscape, the mechanisms of monetary policy in macroeconomic regulation, a comparative analysis of the Hong Kong and mainland capital markets, the value logic of green finance and ESG investing, and the innovative pathways of digital currency and blockchain technology. Through project presentations and case studies, students will gain a deep understanding of how theoretical models apply to real-world scenarios, enhancing their ability to analyze complex economic phenomena and financial principles. The program also includes academic visits, where students will tour the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and engage in face-to-face discussions with mentors at Hong Kong financial corporations and institutions, thus deepening disciplinary comprehension from both academic and practical viewpoints.
