The Grameen Bank model is an organizational form connecting social pressure and joint responsibility. It is currently the world's largest, most efficient, and most successful microfinance institution, with many developing countries emulating or borrowing from it. In October 2006, Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for successfully establishing the Grameen Bank.
As a mature poverty alleviation financial model, its main characteristics include targeting the poorest households, with women in poverty-stricken families as the main target customers; providing small, short-term loans with repayment in cycles, where the loan is repaid as a whole, which is the key feature of the model; no need for collateral or guarantors, with group members forming mutual guarantees in place of guarantors, mutually supervising each other, forming an internal constraint mechanism; collecting group funds and compulsory savings as risk funds based on a certain proportion of the loan amount; implementing group meetings and center meetings systems to inspect project implementation and fund usage, process loan disbursements, repayments, and deposits; while also exchanging wealth information, disseminating technical knowledge, and improving the business and development capabilities of borrowers.
As a non-governmental organization (NGO), it provides small loans with low guarantee amounts to poor rural women (microloans) to support their livelihoods. This system is based on the idea that poor people have untapped skills. The bank also accepts deposits, offers other services, and conducts development-oriented operations, including textile, telecommunications, and energy companies.

Feedbacks
I am very fond of studying feasibility. What I have learned is not just theoretical knowledge from textbooks. By understanding the Grameen system, I can perfectly integrate economics into daily life, strengthening my exploration of economics. I believe economics can be a practical discipline rather than just theoretical models.—— Malvern College Qingdao - Student Zhang
This program made me feel interested! I think the word "economics" gives people a sense of dryness and difficulty, but economics is about anything related to individuals or families, and money is ubiquitous. Researching Grameen Bank made me curious about various things related to understanding economics. In this process, I improved my ability to learn independently and solve problems. Before starting the research, I had to read literature and materials. During this process, I encountered confusion and constantly thought about solutions. It also improved my communication, teamwork, and presentation skills because the research was conducted in groups. I communicated with group members to ask questions, express my opinions, and ask questions to Grameen members.

My favorite part was participating in practical research, especially interviewing Grameen borrowers. Through conversations with these borrowers, I gained profound insights into their roles and challenges in the financial system, which made me feel the impact of finance on individual lives and the importance of loans in their livelihoods. During the interviews, I learned listening and questioning skills to understand their stories and needs better. I deeply realized that financial services are not just about numbers and data but also everyone's life stories and dreams. This experience broadened my horizons and made me pay more attention to the needs and problems at different levels of society. Through conversations with Grameen borrowers, I deeply realized the importance of financial services in providing opportunities for individuals. I learned that some people have discovered their entrepreneurial dreams through loans, while others have improved their living conditions. This has given me a deeper understanding of the social impact of the financial field and has inspired me to contribute positively to society in the future.
